Long Lands Common is a community project for Harrogate and Knaresborough that aims to establish a publicly accessible community woodland and green space (Long Lands Common) that will give the local community (individuals, schools, businesses and community groups) a place that provides the community with an outdoor venue for healthy recreation, environmental education, voluntary conservation work and nature immersion. In addition, we look forward to hosting cultural events such as art installations.
By establishing ourselves as a Community Benefit Society the local community (Harrogate & Knaresborough residents) will be our members and shareholders.
Shareholders will have a say in the direction of the society and its business at general meetings and at an AGM. They will also have opportunities to join the Board of Directors.
We also intend to invite the community to participate in the design and creation of the site through educational opportunities.
In order to do all this, we need to offer shares to the community, in order to fund the purchase of the land.
